• By combining resources, expertise, and market knowledge, you can enhance efficiency, expand market reach, and leverage each other’s strengths.

• Collaborating on R&D projects with foreign companies can foster innovation, knowledge exchange, and shared technological advancements.

5.Exporting and Importing 수출/수입 협력

• Engaging in international trade by exporting your products or importing goods from foreign companies can lead to mutual benefits.

Economic/Industrial Cooperation between Canada & Korea (since 2006)

•   – Korea: Guro in Seoul, Gunsan, and more cities expected
•   Categories: Industrial, economic, & educational areas

Agreements (MOU’s after 2010) 양해각서 체결 현황

•   – City of Windsor & Korean cities
•   – Invest Windsor-Essex (WEEDC, 윈저경제개발공사) & City of Guro
•   – WECDSB (Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board) & City of Guro

•   – Mayor of Windsor visited Korea (2018)
•   – WEEDC delegates visited Korea (2009 & 2011) * 윈저경제개발공사
•   -Guro delegates (mayor and vice-mayor) visited Windsor (2018 & 2019)
•   -In 2020, Guro & Canadian cities (Windsor, Waterloo, & London) agreed to meet in Canada for an industrial cooperation on a high-tech level.
•   This was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Co-op (Global Internship) for Korean Schools (2014-Present)

•   – Participating schools from Korea: Yuhan HS, Deokil HS, and more
•   – Participating companies in Canada: Shur-lok, SPI, Ground Effects, and more
•   – The Korean government supports the Korean schools financially for the three month internship in Windsor

1) 대상 도시 – 협력 도시 관내 기업 위주로 기업국제화 지원
  Canada: 윈저 + 런던, 워털루, 킹스빌(리밍턴) in 온타리오주
  Korea: 구로 plus 유망 강소기업을 가진 중견 도시 추가

<런던, 워털루>
  – 윈저에서 토론토 방향으로 각각 1시간 반, 3시간 거리에 소재, 메트로윈저(인구 30만) 대비10만-20만 정도 크고, 국제 공항 보유, 국제기업이 다수 진출하여 독일/일본과 국제교류가 활발.
윈저는 자동차부품산업 위주; 런던, 워털루는 화학, IT, 영상 등 다양한 업종이 고르게 포진.

<킹스빌/리밍턴>
  – 농업생산 및 교역 비중이 매우 높은 소규모 도시, 자동차 부품 기업체도 다수 포진.

2) 추진 방법 및 기대효과
  – 도시 간 우호협력 또는 자매도시 관계 수립을 기초로 산업자료정보 교환, 기업설명회, 첨단기술 협력 방안 논의 등
  – (효과) 국제협력 가능 기업 다양화, 유망 강소기업군 확대, 양자간 교류 비용 절감,
    => 기업 국제화 및 기업 간 협력 모델 정립 가능성 제고
    * 기업 협력 이외에도 교육/문화 분야 교류 확대 기반 조성

3) 협력 형태
  가. 기술 선도
    – 기술 제휴 또는 공동 개발 (한국, 캐나다 상호 강점 분야)
    – 기술 이전 (이전수수료 + 설비 및 북미 시장 개척 협조)
  나. 생산 및 마케팅 (도시간 분업적 제휴)
    – 기술 제공 + 생산/마케팅 분업 또는 제3국 시장 공동 개척
  다. 업종 선정
    – 첨단 기술 또는 신기술 보유 기업의 경우, 업종에 관계없이 모든 참여 도시/기관이 기업 지원책 모색 (협력 형태 결정)
    *농업도시 간 협력 추진 중 – 농업회사, 농업단체 국제 협력 참여 기회
